MARTIN, Ireland (AP) —Doctors who prescribe Augmentin to treat people with the rare but severe form of Alzheimer’s disease say it can also help prevent it from getting worse.

People who are given Augmentin at least twice a day for about the same condition also get a lower dose of the drug, researchers say.

But people who get the drug from the doctors who received it for the condition are also likely to get no benefit.

“The benefit of this drug is significant,” said Dr. Steven Nissen, a clinical cardiologist at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. “We have to accept that there are more benefits that come along with a higher dose.”

For the condition to be treated, people with the disease need to have a lower dose of Augmentin.

People who get the drug from doctors who received it for the condition also get a lower dose of the drug, researchers say.

The doctors who were prescribing Augmentin say the drug should only be given to people who are already taking a medication, and those who are not are also likely to get no benefit from the drug.

They said the side effects from Augmentin — which are the most common — could be enough to keep them in the hospital. They also said those who are taking the medication for the condition should not get it again unless they can get the new medication and have it delivered to their home.

Nissen, a clinical cardiologist at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago.

People who get the drug from the doctors who received it for the condition are also likely to get no benefit.

Doctors who treat the condition with Augmentin also said they should be more cautious about what they may do to their patients, as they can be dangerous to others.
